Q&A with Dawn Mougel
Owner, A New Dawn Wellness Center
Dawn Mougel is a Registered Nurse with her Masters Degree in Nursing, soon to sit for her national board certification exam as a Nurse Practitioner. She is an educator, business owner, and mother of three. She established A New Dawn Wellness Center as Scottsdale’s top location for everything health and beauty, providing technical excellence, an artistic eye, and compassionate patient care.
Q: At what point is someone ready for cosmetic treatments?
A: It’s never too early or too late to start taking care of your skin, health, and well-being. I see many patients starting in their 20s, who come in for preventative treatments, e.g. a little Botox or HydraFacials. However, I also have patients who didn’t start their quest for health and beauty until their 60s. It doesn’t matter if you’re seeking medical treatment for teen-acne, glowing skin for a big event, or want to reduce signs of aging, there’s something for everyone.
Q: Your experience as a nurse is diverse, from trauma intensive care to humanitarian outreach. As a medical professional, what’s important to look for in an aesthetic injector?
A: Choose someone who is experienced and determined to continue education. The aesthetics industry is constantly changing and it’s important to stay up to date to guarantee patient safety and well-being. Make sure your injector is a licensed medical professional, i.e. a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, or MD who specializes in aesthetics and beauty. Be certain they only use FDA approved products and well-maintained, state-of-the-art equipment. And lastly, make sure they’re someone you trust, who will stand behind their work.
Q: What are some of the most requested treatments you perform?
A: Lip filler is without a doubt my most popular treatment. I pride myself in creating a natural volume and plumpness without overdoing it. There’s a trend towards subtlety and most patients are seeking more natural-looking results. Another highly requested treatment of mine is the PDO thread lift, a minimally invasive procedure that lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue through collagen stimulation.
In the future, I think that laser hair removal will be our No. 1 treatment at a A New Dawn Wellness Center. We just purchased a brand new, state of the art laser hair removal system, the SplendorX, that is not only faster than any other laser I have seen, it is virtually pain-free. We’re proud to be the first in Scottsdale to offer this high tech, comfortable, and effective treatment.
Q: Do you have any personal beauty regimes that you’d like to share with our readers?
A: My patients ask this all the time. I faithfully practice good skin care with medical grade cleansers, anti-aging serums, and a moisturizer morning and night. In addition, I get a HydraFacial and Dermaplane once a month. My favorite medical treatments for myself are IPL/Photofacials with our M22, Botox, PRP and PDO Thread Lifting.
