How does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Lasers are narrow beams of light formed by one or multiple wavelengths. During laser treatments for hair reduction, the laser light targets pigment cells, called melanin, that reside in the hair follicle. Once the melanin is targeted, it absorbs the light energy, converts it into heat, and ultimately burns all the way down the hair root and follicle, preventing future growth.

Since hair goes through a resting and growth cycle, multiple treatments are needed to permanently remove hair. When hair is in its resting part of the cycle, it may not be able to absorb enough laser light to destroy the follicle. Typically, between 4 and 6 sessions are needed to permanently reduce hair quantity and thickness.
