What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses very fine, short needles to cause controlled micro-injuries to the top layer of your skin. By doing that it provokes your body's natural healing process which results in smoother, firmer, more toned skin. Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, microneedling is a safe and effective procedure to treat a variety of conditions, e.g. acne scars, stretch marks, or uneven tones and textures.
At the beginning of every microneedling treatment, a numbing cream is applied to reduce patient discomfort. Then, we pierce the skin using the SkinPen’s sterile needle head in order to generate new collagen and skin tissue. Most patients add Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to improve and extend the rejuvenating effects of their microneedling treatment.
Microneedling requires little to no downtime, but you may experience redness, skin tightness, and mild sensitivity to touch. Those side effects typically disappear within 24 hours. While visible improvements, e.g. reduced lines and wrinkles and radiant skin, can be seen after just one session, we recommend repeated sessions.
Microneedling with HA
This facial rejuvenation treatment lifts and firms your facial tissue, providing noticeable results immediately. Even better, as collagen builds over time, your results will continue to improve after the treatment.
Microneedling with PRP
During a PDO neck lift procedure, a combination of barbed and smooth threads are strategically placed to lift, smooth, and tighten sagging skin around the neck and jawline.

Are all Microneedling devices safe to use?
While microneedling is not an inherently dangerous procedure, it is causing micro-injuries to your skin and therefore, requires an experienced medical professional, who works in a clean, well-equipped environment and uses tools that are clinically proven to be safe and effective.
Designed and engineered in the US, SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is the first FDA cleared microneedling device that has been granted marketing authorization. It is designed and engineered for safety in every step:
Its straight, sterile, and precise needles support the skin’s natural healing process where others may damage the skin.
It is laboratory tested to prevent cross-contamination.
Furthermore, it is the only advanced, medical grade microneedling product on the US market with precise and safe needle depth adjustment to effectively stimulate the body’s wound-healing process while minimizing cellular damage.
To ensure your safety and wellbeing, we highly recommend you to seek an aesthetic specialist who uses an FDA approved microneedling device for their treatments.
How do I care for my skin after the treatment and is there any downtime?
During the first 2-3 days post-treatment, it is important to avoid sun exposure and keep your skin protected using broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen. Furthermore, we suggest to avoid vitamin C, retinols, and other active ingredients.
Our aesthetic specialists will provide you with a chemical free, fragrance free, botanical care kit that includes gentle cleaning and moisturizing products to protect your skin. In addition, we recommend our Dermaplane + HydraFacial treatment 1 week after your microneedling session to remove any dead skin and restore hydration.
How long do results last and how many treatments are needed to see results?
According to a 2008 study in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal, skin treated with four microneedling sessions spaced one month apart produced up to a 400% increase in collagen and elastin six months after completing treatment. However, more severe conditions, e.g. acne scars and deep wrinkles can require up to 8 sessions.
