Advanced IPL

Reverse sun damage and rejuvenate your skin with our Advanced IPL Photofacial. With our revolutionary multi-application platform, the Lumenis M22, we are able to provide a gentle treatment that requires no downtime.

What is the IPL Photofacial?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, a technology that utilizes the power of broad-spectrum light, which is primarily absorbed by melanin and effectively treats pigmentation and vascular imperfections. A gentle treatment to reduce age and sun spots, stimulate collagen, and improve the overall appearance of your skin, the IPL photofacial requires little to no downtime.

At the beginning of your treatment, we will adjust the laser settings to target your individual skin type and needs. Then, a clear ultrasound gel is applied as a cooling agent to disperse the heat.

The main part of your IPL photofacial treatment consists of delivering blasts of light at intense pulses that absorb deeply into your skin. The treatment is relatively quick and most patients experience no pain or discomfort.

IPL Photofacials require no downtime, but you may experience redness and slight swelling immediately after the treatment. Those side effects typically disappear within 24 hours. While rejuvenating effects can be seen after just one session, we recommend a series of treatments to visibly improve your skin.

Why the M22?

Unlike any other laser on the market, the Lumenis M22 provides a modular multi-application platform that enables us to treat over 30 skin conditions from dark spots and sun damage to wrinkles and cellulite. Its Universal IPL module is designed with 9 ExpertFilters tailored to your skin type and desired results. Furthermore, its Optimal Pulse Technology (OPT) provides a gentler, more comfortable treatment with lower effective fluences.

At A New Dawn Wellness Center, the quality and safety of our equipment is our biggest priority. We are proud to have partnered with Lumenis, the global leader in laser technologies to provide you with state-of-the-art lasers that guarantee results.

Is the IPL Photofacial Painful?

No, not at all! You may experience a warm sensation as the light is applied to your skin, but our cooling gel should help minimize any discomfort.

Is There a Difference Between LED and IPL Photofacials?

Yes, there is. LED treatments are typically used to treat minor skin problems as they only affect the outer layer of your skin. IPL treatments, on the other hand, are absorbed deeper into the skin and are effective to treat more serious problems, e.g. pigmentation and vascular imperfections.

How Should I Prepare for My IPL Photofacial?

In order to minimize the risk of any side effects occurring during or after the treatment, you should: - Avoid tanning and limit your sun exposure - Ensure the treated area is free of sunburns, herpes, inflammatory acne, and eczema - Remove contact lenses or bring your contact lense case IPL Photofacials cannot be performed on people with active infections, viral, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory skin conditions, or skin cancer.

How Do I Care for My Skin After the Treatment and Is there Any Downtime?

Some clients experience mild redness and swelling, which can last up to 24 hours. However, there is no downtime and you can return to your normal activities right after. After your treatment, it is important to follow the instructions outlined by our staff. Avoid sun exposure for a few days post-treatment and apply full-spectrum sunscreen to the treated area every day.

How Long Do Results Last and How Many Treatments Are Needed to See Results?

The results achieved from a series of treatments can last for years with proper post-care. Even better, schedule occasional maintenance treatments (1-2x a year) to extend the rejuvenating effects. Some skin concerns such as shallow pigmentation and age/sun spots may be cleared with as few as 1-2 treatments. However, we recommend 2-6 sessions every 2-4 weeks to achieve optimal results.
