AUTUMN NEWLETTER

Welcome to the Autumn / Fall 2006 Newsletter!

With Fall, comes changes, growth. And I want to share with you what I’ve been up to the past couple of months…I’m excited to share that I’m now trained in Traditional Thai Massage and also Spa Body Exfoliation/Wraps…

Now introducing Spa Body Treatments! How about a full body therapeutic Seaweed, Detoxifying or Aromatherapy BodyWrap? Followed by a deeply relaxing back massage? Or perhaps try the Express Exfoliating Back Treatment? Or a Detoxifying or Cellulite Body treatment along with a massage, a really therapeutic way to go…

Picture yourself receiving the Micro-Buff Body Polish…(Creamy blend of Micronized Buffing beads, Loofah, and Apricot powder that refines even the roughest and flakiest areas without irritation, leaving skin with a radiant glow and even tone, providing for heightened absorption of moisturizers and nutrients)…Followed by either the Black Baltic Body Mud (promoting cell oxygenation, replenishing moisture, firmness and uniformity to skin), or the Firmi-Sea Body Mud (containing concentrated minerals and vitamins, & 5 different algae forms that is intended to stimulate, firm and moisturize.) Or… the deeply hydrating European Rose Body Mud with Apricot and Wheat Amino Acids, Beta Glucan, Rosa Centifolia, and Alpha Hydroxy Lactic Acid that accelerates epidermal cell renewal. Treat yourself, or someone else you love!

Massage Helps Relieve Stress-Related Pain

We've all had the warning signs; the stiff neck and back muscles, soreness around the shoulders, possibly followed by a headache. These signs of stress appear in countless numbers of workers everyday. Most of us ignore the symptoms, take some aspirin or just complain. Perhaps, we should be making appointment for a much-needed massage.

Acupressure massage is one method used by therapists to help relieve the painful side effects of stress. "A certain amount of stress is a healthy, but too much stress can lead to pain in areas such as the neck, shoulder or arm", said therapist Paula Visser. There many massage techniques used to relieve the painful side effects of stress. Deep tissue, aromatherapy, lymph drainage therapy and hot stone massage also can be effective in relieving pain associated with stress.

Instead of suffering through the pain, get out your calendar and book yourself an appointment to get a massage and find some relief. Our stressful lives might never completely get under control but we can help manage the pain with regular massage therapy treatments.

Release Your Back

It's a physical fact that we are shorter at the end of the day than we are at its beginning. This is because the force of gravity increases compression in our spine hour by hour until, by the end of the day, it has taken its toll.

Yoga eases the resulting pressure or pain by encouraging us to lengthen the spine and fight compression. But if you find that your pain increases over a day of sitting, this exercise might help you find relief:

Sit in your chair with your feet on the floor, hip distance apart. Place the heels of your palms on the tops of your legs, as close to your hips as possible. Allow your shoulder blades to rise up to your ears as you push down firmly with your palms. Increase the pressure until you feel your spine lengthen in response.

Remain for five to 10 breaths or until the pain in your back melts away.

Feel Like You Have a “New Back”…

Is your back feeling stiff and sore today? We all experience back pain at one point or another, and some of us seem to experience it continually. If this sounds like you, never fear! Here's a quick exercise that can help you release this pain, right at your desk:

Release the muscles in your back by taking a gentle twist. While seated, cross your right knee over your left knee. Place your left hand on the outside of your right knee, and brace your right palm against your chair's right elbow rest. Twist to the right, keeping your left sitting bone firmly grounded against your chair. Look over your right shoulder. Hold for five breaths, and then switch sides.
